Research themes

IHMRI’s research program encompasses six main themes:

Cross-cutting themes

The research program also includes three ‘cross-cutting’ themes that apply broadly across a number of research areas:

Clinical research and trials

Clinical research will be a strong component of the research program upon completion of IHMRI's new building, which features a dedicated Clinical Research and Trials Unit.

Research leadership

A key feature of IHMRI’s research program is its research leadership structure. Research leaders for each of the research themes include a Scientific Director (an academic researcher) and a Medical Director (a clinician). This leadership model promotes strong links between the academic and clinical research contexts and facilitates collaborative research agendas that ensure research findings can be rapidly translated into improved clinical practice and better health outcomes for the community.
