Partners and Supporters
Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute acknowledges the generous support it has received from the following sources.
- IHMRI’s new $30 million building currently under construction and due for completion in 2010, has been jointly funded by the University of Wollongong and the NSW Government through its Office of Science and Medical Research.
- The ITC Group of Companies, a wholly owned University of Wollongong enterprise, announced in May 2009 a $6m donation to launch a Medical Research Support Fund which will provide core funding for IHMRI over the next three years.
- IHMRI has been deemed eligible for support through the 2009-2010 NSW Government’s Medical Research Support Program, administered by the Office of Science and Medical Research. Grant allocations are to be announced shortly.
The funding and in-kind support provided by these organisations, in addition to the South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service, has enabled IHMRI to establish itself as a credible and sustainable research organisation very early on in its existence.
IHMRI is also working in partnership with a number of local community-based organisations on specific research projects. These links are vital in ensuring that IHMRI research is relevant to the Illawarra region and will be of maximum benefit to our local population.
