Welcome to the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI), an exciting partnership between the University of Wollongong and the South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service.

IHMRI is unique to the Illawarra region. Our research focuses on health and medical issues that are common in the region and is aimed at improving the health and well being of our local community.

Our goal is to foster collaboration between researchers throughout the Illawarra, creating a centre of excellence and innovation that represents the focal point of health and medical research in this region.

What's new?

Launch of Research Network

IHMRI is launching its new Research Network on Wednesday 9 December 2009. Researchers, clinicians and other health professionals are invited to attend the event and to become involved in the Network.

New headquarters 

Currently under construction at the University of Wollongong and scheduled to open by mid-2010, IHMRI's new building will feature international standard PC2 and PC3 laboratories and a dedicated Clinical Research and Trials Unit specially designed to support lifestyle intervention trials, drug trials and a range of other clinical studies.
